Jennifer- thank you very much for the comment! It means a great deal to me that you should appreciate "Interdependence" because of your background. I wanted to honor the sacred bond between Native American peoples and the creatures they share the land with. At the same time, I didn't want to inappropriately reflect the culture. I hope your comment means I succeeded in that endeavor.

The poem spoke to me especially about the agreement that my tribe, Ojibwe, is believed to have made with Creator and our Deer relatives, that our relationship would be one where we would honor them as providers for us, never take what we didn't need, and we always thank the animal and Creator and let no part go to waste. To this day during hunting season, I know my family still conducts the necessary ceremonies to honor the Deer. I think your writing honored that very well and also reflected your feelings on being "on the other side of that" so to speak. I think all cultures are able to teach each other many things.

Thank you, Jennifer. The agreement the Ojibwe make with Creator and our Deer relatives is exactly the relationship of interdependence that all humanity should have with nature. My Druid ancestors would share this view.
